Cast...
By Steve Glenn
These are some of the rad folk who were in the movie.
Steve Glenn as Radio Free Steve
I'm me... a proud bad-assed former radio pirate from Austin, Texas. I warn't
never in no fame show previous to this movie, except for yanking pulleys for
my high school's productions of "Lil' Abner" and "Our Town". Currently I am the co-owner of
Video Tape Duplicates, Inc. in Austin. In my spare time
I make kewl web pages and sell my Pound Puppies collection on Ebay,
I'm hoping this movie really takes off cause I think it has a good message.
Jessy Schwartz as Sheena
This is my ex girlfiend. She played Sheena, a futuristic slave girl
I rescued from a bunch of grass tokin' mutants. She was cool for about 30 minutes
and then our relationship just went to ass. Last I heard she was living in Austin
and was even on MTV's Austin Stories. Yeah, NOW she wants to act.
Chris Sykes as Dirk
This is my ex best friend. He played himself mostly... kinda this
Mad Max/TJ Hooker wannabe. He and I worked on a bunch of fun little videos over
the years until this one. Dirk went on to star as either Batman or Robin in some
kind of water stunt show at Six Flags. I think I saw him in an ad in Sport Illustrated
last month.
Dean Haglund as himself in the year 1999
Dean and I met in Canada at an audition for You Can't do that on Television.
My part went to Christine McGlade and Dean's got taken by some dork named Alasdair.
He agreed to be in my movie in exchange for a fake green card that my cousin made
on his Amiga. Now he plays that wierd guy with glasses on the X-Files and
stars in the upcoming Lone Gunmen.
Dave Kendall as himself in the year 1999
As the Daddy of alternative rock and originator and host of MTV's 120 Minutes,
Dave changed my life almost as much as Automan and the Manimal. Before all that,
though, I got him to be in "Radio Free Steve" back in '84. I met Dave vomiting
outside the Billy Joel concert in Houston. We talked about how cool it was when
Billy got eaten by that white shag carpet in the "Pressure" video. Channel 13.
Sesame Street. What does it mean?
Lisbeth Kennelly as the Mutant Queen Elder
Hop over, Crocodile Dundee, Lisbeth Kennelly is the real crown jewel of Australia! This
talented super star was the lead in Greg Quail's stunning debut short film I Want You
at the Cannes Film Festival in 1998. Even though she dates Mr. Quail (who also plays
Fucked Up Elder #5 in the show), her passion for Steve burns eternal. She was ecstatic to
act opposite me in the controversial breakdancing scene the critics dubbed overwhelming.
Johanna Stein as Laguna
In her jiggiest role to date, Johanna spent weeks perfecting her fly moves
to audition (for real) on Yo, I'm On TV, Yo! the program where everyday
people get the chance to strut their stuff on national television in hopes of
becoming everyone's dream... a video jockey. Now she's got a real gig on TV with...
Joy Gohring as Crystal
Joy, the vindictive bitch, tried to beat me up after I waxed her chances of
being a VJ on Yo, I'm on TV, Yo!. When she's not picking fights or
putting the "yo" in yoga, she's starring with Johanna in an all women's comedy troupe on
the Oxygen Network and in their LA comedy show Without Pants.
Justin Hall as The Übergeek
Justin Hall, web phenom with his infamous Links from the Underground, is one
of my new media heroes. He was also the focal point of a documentary called
Homepage about people and their personal webpages. He's also a featured star
as this same character in the upcoming short film //Slasher by Ryan Junell.
Kris McGaha as Crystal
I just about shook the shit out of her wig when she confronted me on the
set of Yo, I'm on TV, Yo!, but I don't hold it against her. She's a
hot tomato and that's about all that counts at this point. She does stand
up comedy in Los Angeles and was the introducer for the first television
season of the teen favorite Loveline with Dr. Drew and Adam Karolla.
She also co-starred in The Curve,
starring Keri Russell and Matthew Lillard.
Christian Moore as himself
This guy is a freak-a-zoinker. We picked him up on the side of the road
while we were shooting and his story fit so well we left it in. He was
going to visit his ex-girlfriend at a Buddhist compound and ended up making
out with my girlfriend! I was pissed, but it's all water under the bridge. He
directed a terrific film in the '90s called Shady Grove which toured
international film festivals. Preppie bastard.
Bruce Beesley as Bruce
Yes, this is the same Bruce Beesley who appeared in such San Angelo Civic
Theatre productions as A Midsummer's Nights Dream, Guys and Dolls, and
the Best Little Whorehouse in Texas. He is also a world-class hair stylist
at the Rage in San Angelo. If you have big hair, Bruce can help.
Carol Santry as Ursula
Playing the role of the old blind Mexican cook is the lovely and talented
Ms. Carol Santry. She was my spanish teacher in high school and we've been
buddies ever since she bumped my grades up to a "D" so I could graduate. I
still don't know what the hell she said in the movie, but I'm sure it was sincere!
Wade Beesley as Punk #3 and Roller Derbier #3
Wade Beesley's always been a real turkey, but he's got some interesting taste. I
usually don't buy beer for 13 year olds, but Ozzy had played such a shitfire show I
suppose I was in a pretty good mood. Wade and his little butt-buddy Preston were
all tricked out in ripped black t-shirts singing "Crazy Train" and I was
touched. Now he runs a coffee house in Austin called Mojo's.
I like to think I made him what he is today.
Jenn as Roller Derbier #1
"Acting wasn't that fuckin' hard. I'd just threaten Steve then kick him in
the nuts, just like in the script. No big fuckin' deal." says Jen of her
first appearance in a major motion video. Jen's been involved in pirate radio
for years and rumored to be high up on the FCC's hit list. Keep kewl, Jen!
Scott Meadows as Moonshine
Scott could pass for a modern day Slim Pickens in his magical portrayal
of the intellectually complex "Moonshine." Aside from a very
promising acting career, Scott is pursuing a future in three dimensional
computer graphical storytelling... which I heard is going to be very big
some day. I doubt he'll ever top Tron, but I wish him the best.
Nathan Zellner as Ricky
Nathan "Big Nate" Zellner has written, directed and acted in many
independent films shot in and around Austin, Texas. He also runs
an incredibly funny webzine called Points of Interest.
Check out his movie "Plastic Utopia" or some of his MP3s in his
kickin' hiphop band, Getto Rainbow.
Amy Raymond as Beth
Amy grew up in the scrawny West Texas town of San Angelo.
Her main drive in life is as an actress in Los Angeles. Her films
include The Curve and The Devil's Cello.
She even starred in Ryan Junell's brilliant digital short //Slasher.
I heard she just finished co-starring in the feature film Division of Assets with that chick from ER, Kellie Martin.
A real class act, that Amy!
